Overview

MEROWAL 1GM is an intravenous injection that contains Meropenem 1000mg, a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat various serious bacterial infections. It belongs to the carbapenem class of antibiotics, which work by stopping the growth of bacteria.

Uses

• Skin and soft tissue infections
• Intra-abdominal infections
• Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
• Respiratory tract infections like pneumonia
• Septicemia (blood infections)
• Bacterial meningitis

Dosage and Administration

The usual adult dose is 500mg to 1000mg every 8 hours by intravenous infusion. Dosage may vary based on the infection type and patient’s kidney function. It should only be administered by a healthcare professional.

Side Effects

• Nausea and vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Headache
• Skin rash or irritation at the injection site
• Seizures (rare but serious)
• Low white blood cell count

Precautions

• Inform your doctor if you have kidney disease.
• Use with caution in patients with a history of seizures.
• Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless prescribed by a doctor.
• Complete the full course of treatment to prevent resistance.

Storage

Store below 25°C. Keep out of reach of children. Protect from light and moisture. Do not use after the expiry date.
