Fake Heart Surgeon Performs 15 Surgeries in India, Leading to Multiple Deaths
Date: April 2025
In a shocking case of medical fraud, Indian authorities have launched a manhunt for Narendra Vikramaditya Yadav, a man who posed as a British-trained heart surgeon and carried out 15 heart procedures at a private mission hospital in Damoh, Madhya Pradesh.
The surgeries, which included angioplasties and angiographies, were performed between January and February 2025. Tragically, at least seven patients died shortly after these procedures.
Yadav reportedly used forged medical degrees and claimed affiliations with prestigious institutions in London. In an attempt to complete his deception, he even bleached his hair blond to appear foreign-trained.
Concerned family members of the deceased patients raised suspicions, prompting an investigation by local health authorities and the Child Welfare Committee, which first flagged inconsistencies in Yadav’s background.
Timeline of Events:
- January–February 2025: Yadav performs 15 heart procedures
- March 2025: 7 patient deaths raise alarm
- April 2025: Police launch full investigation and issue search warrant
- Fake degrees and identity revealed during verification
- Authorities suspect broader fraud ring and potential collusion
Legal and Medical Repercussions
Yadav is currently absconding, and police are investigating the hospital administration for negligence and possible complicity. The hospital is temporarily closed pending review. The case has sparked nationwide outrage and calls for stricter vetting processes for medical professionals.
Authorities Respond
The Medical Council of India (MCI) has issued a statement reaffirming the importance of verifying foreign credentials and urged all hospitals to review their staffing protocols. Victims’ families are demanding justice and systemic reform to prevent such tragedies.
